Ian Burrell is a 2:13 marathoner and in 2015 he finished 25th at the Marathon World Championships in Beijing. It says something about how fierce the competition was if a 2:13 time gets you 25th place!
Today, Ian is officially retired from elite competition. He’s an attorney in Colorado Springs where he lives with his wife and kids, and we talk about which is harder – running the marathon at the elite level or parenting small children.
We talk about the importance of setting goals and not being too attached to the results, his incredible experience running in the World Championships in Beijing, and how he mentally prepares for events like that.
